Biloela Guestbook! A selection of our visitors’ comments:
Responses to polls:
“I think that there should be discounts on those wanting to purchase grey water systems and I think that there should permanent restrictions in place so that the residents can conserve water. I think that being water wise should be encouraged.”
“Biloela needs an indoor swim complex. This would allow the pool to be used all year round and would also provide protection from the sun in the summer months. It seems ironic that our southern cousins have access to swimming facilities year round and in Qld we have restricted access.” “Your website is fantastic actually – like what you are doing there.”
“As a mother of two children, six and three, I find there is a need for more attractive parks, with more shade, seating and modern play equipment.”
“A decent park which can be enjoyed by the entire community (young, old and disabled), as well as tourists has to be a positive addition to our town. The Family Fun Day at the Lions Park displayed how families from all walks of life can join together and enjoy the outdoors and see their kids playing in the fresh air and getting exercise – something that doesn’t happen often enough in this day and age. Lets do something positive for the
community as a whole, not just for a minority!”
“The need for better playground facilities was highlighted on the weekend by the amount of families with young children which attended the Family Fun Day in the Lions Park. The soft fall under the existing play equipment had positive feedback. This is a great park. Let’s make it better.”
“More footpaths are needed to link up major roads ie Prairie St from civic centre to Callide St, so school children don’t have to ride on the busy road. Other Sts like Washpool, State Farm Rd all could do with footpaths.”
“A decent park and playground for weekend bbqs and picnic, somewhere nice for travellers to pull up.”
“1. Main street decorations for Christmas
2. Plant Christmas trees in the Waterloo area and sell at Christmas time
3. Improve street lighting
4. More seating around the township for elderly people
5. More Shade sails and seating around the town and parks
6. More gardens in the CBD similar to the ones in Kariboe street.”
“Biloela is a great place to live but there are no nice parks etc to take our children to, to play or go for a picnic. The council needs to put money back into the community to make it fun for children and families. Look at Tannum, Gladstone etc. Look at their lovely parks etc. We often hear out of town people say “Biloela is a lovely place but nothing to do, we have to go to R’ton or Gladstone to take the family out”. That is so true.”
“I live in Biloela and love it a lot.”
“My choice (in the poll) is for attractive signage at all entry points, because our many (some interstate) visitors, all say, after an extensive personal tour showing off our agricultural areas, the dam, the mine from the viewing point, the newer parts of town, the meatworks etc., that they didn’t know there was “all this” in Biloela. Other aesthetic
improvements could be the clock, street lamps, fountain and shaded areas in the parks. Anything to give the town individual character.”
“What Bilo really needs is a funky cafe that is open nights, and 8am till late on weekends (sat and sun). I know of so many people who would go and there would be no competition as the cafes that are currently around are not open at appropriate times for day workers
and people wanting to go out ….. either the existing pubs or cafes can be altered to achieve this goal and I’m sure they would do well.”
Other feedback:
