![]() at Biloela, central Queensland, Australia!Brigalow Art Festival 2010 What a great night out for everybody who has an interest in art as the annual Brigalow Art Show filled the foyer of the Civic Centre . The quality of the items on display was impressive and it is wonderful to see the progression of confidence in their own artistic ability displayed by artists who just a few years ago were apprehensive about hanging their works for public display. The art judge, Marlene Millard, was impressed with the standard of work and expressed her regret that she could not award more prizes that would recognize the high standard of many works that did not enter into the prize lists The Photography section has come of age and there was a very high standard of entries and shows the interest and ability of the many different artists who are keen to explore this relatively new art form. The Banana Shire Art Gallery Association is a volunteer organization that puts a tremendous amount of work into the organization of an event such as this. President John Rathjen and Secretary Dorothy Rideout, along with their fellow committee members, need all the support the community can muster to keep these important community events underway. To be involved does not necessarily mean you have to be part of every meeting during the course of the year. They really would appreciate your expression of interest to assist on those occasions when the manual tasks are on the agenda that could be carried out by somebody just a little younger! The tremendous support from sponsors large and small does show that the whole community appreciates the opportunity to enjoy an art show. Congratulations to the winners but also to those who entered their work and contributed to the success of the evening by exhibiting their work. |
